Global Peace Foundation, Inc. celebrated World Peace Day on September 22, 2018 at Yellow Chili Restaurant in Buena Park, California, in a grand way. It was a houseful event. People from various communities were present. For the last few years Global Peace Foundation, Inc. has been celebrating World Peace Day on the week of International Day of Peace, declared by the United Nations on September 21.
The Program started with the song session emceed by Dilip Butani and Prem Guragain. Next was the introduction of the program emcees Vinaini Jayasinghe and Shona Patel by Alan V. Ford. The two Emcees invited the distinguished guests and committee members to come up on the stage for American National Anthem sang by Arti Garg and lamp lighting by guests. Students from Savithri Academy of Dance, performed wonderful Invocation Dance, right after the lamp lighting.
Keynote Speaker Barry Simon, President of the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), Southern California Division, spoke about the importance of Peace today and the role we can play to bring Peace at home, in the community, in the Nation and the World. Popular Hollywood Actress Kieu Chinh congratulated Global Peace Foundation, Inc. for their dedication and commitment towards helping the needy and many other programs organized by GPF.
Founder and President of Global Peace Foundation, Inc., Manorama S. Gupta, MD, spoke about the organization, its mission, vision, goals and welcomed all the participants from more than ten countries. She thanked all guests , keynote speakers, awardees, donors, participants, vendors singers, photographers, volunteers, media partners and owners of Yellow Chilli Restaurant. She acknowledged organizing committee members for their hard work to make this program successful. She hopes to start Peace University in the near future.
During the program, many social workers, peace promoters, youth leaders were honored with plaques for their contributions in the community. Peace awardees were chosen for their humanitarian work locally and Internationally. The peace awardees were Dr. Sam Nguyen, Laxmi Prapanna Niroula, Alan V. For. Inspirational Youth Model awards were given to Anika Ortiz, Radhika Shah. Princess Junko Ishikawa, Rini Ghosh was awarded appreciation awards for their community services. Angela Tha Trin, Lot Duon, Dr. Tam Nguyen and Tony Le were appreciated for their donations for Rising Against Hunger.
Mayor of Westminster, Tri Ta congratulated Global Peace Foundation, Inc. and honored GPF with a plaque. There was an auction, raffle, music, song during the program. Tenzin and Pasang from Tenzin Imports donated 50% of all the proceeds from their sale and the raffles to feed hungry children. Many other donors came forward and donated what they could.
Dr. Sinduri Jayasinghe coordinated the cultural program with talent young children through Savitri Dance Academy, Irish dance was performed by Erika Weiler and Loa dance by Dalena Poxny. Subhash Tolia, Kavita Naraynaswamy, Deep Bikram Singh, Alan Ford and Dalena Poxny poured their heart out, singing beautiful songs. Suraj Shrestha was looking good on a beautiful modern dance.
The organizing committee members worked day and night for months to make this even possible. They are leaders in community with many other responsibilities Manorama S. Gupta, MD, Alan V. Ford, Prem Guragain, Dilip Butani, Radhika Patel, Asmath Noor, DDS, Dr. Sinduri Jayasinghe, Dr. Caren Rich, Mohammad Islam, Keval Kanda, Nila Patel and Dr. Pammi Bevli. It was the most united effort from all organizing committee members and other volunteers.
Global Peace Foundation, Inc., on Thanks giving will donate serve food to homeless in Orange County Rescue Mission. Foundation in association with Rise Against Hunger, is donating and packaging over 10,000 meals to send all over the World for needy children on October 14, 2018.
